How have they changed over time?
The sacraments of healing are very old and have changed a number of times over the time the church has been around, some changes are significant and some are only minor. When Reconciliation first came around instead of confessing your sins to the priest privately you would instead announce them to the whole mass and then undertake fasting, praying and works of charity. This was the first time that reconciliation had been undergone by the church and people only received forgiveness once. Nowadays reconciliation is a private confession and can be received many times. When the church was still early the anointing of the sick was a major ritual and not a sacrament until later in the churches time. The first anointing of the sick was done by a priest or an elder and they would bless the person with oil that has been blessed. During the middle ages the anointing of the sick finally became a sacrament .
